Mind Lab's curriculum is designed to impart a number of skills to our students, including:
1. Problem Solving – Every person is faced with a number of problems to solve every day, including children, who do not necessarily possess all of the problem solving tools necessary to do so. We teach them to identify, diagnose, and solve the problems they encounter, whether it be an altercation at the bus stop, or a math problem on a test.
2. Decision Making – When a child is exposed to specific problems, he or she must reach a decision about what to do and how to do it. The question-asking process is an integrative part of the decision-making process. We teach children to ask the relevant questions, and to then make the appropriate decision.
3. Mathematical Thinking – Every child in every stage of life is faced with mathematical problems. It is not always easy for the child to understand the nature of these problems, let alone to solve them. Mind Lab imparts tools to the learner that improve his or her mathematical thinking and facilitate the understanding of math-related problems such as numbers and counting, groups, probability, etc.
4. Emotional Intelligence – Many times in our lives, we are required to use emotional intelligence, but it is not always easy for a child to deal with emotional problems or even to be aware of them. Mind Lab's curriculum helps to expose and to project the emotions, to express and to share emotional burdens with others, and to provide the children with methods to deal with emotional issues.
5. Scientific Thinking – In our hi-tech world, children are constantly exposed to advanced sciences, are involved in technological systems, and often to do not understand the scientific actions involved. Mind Lab's lessons expand the children's understanding and ability to contend with scientific issues.
6. Memory Retention – It's difficult for children to recall the huge amounts of information which they are exposed to on a daily basis. Mind Lab's methods help children to develop memory retention and recall systems through game playing.
7. Investigative Skills – Children do not naturally understand how to examine in-depth those subjects to which they are exposed. Mind Lab teaches them how to research, gather and classify information, and then recall as necessary.
8. Mutual Cooperation – Mind Lab's class structure and lesson plans stress cooperation, teaching children how to work together and the advantage of doing so.
9. Logical Thinking – Not all thinking processes are automatic. Children must be taught the logical and structured thinking skills that help us carry out the many activities in our daily lives, from navigating to a new location, to following a recipe, to learning a new activity.
10. Planning and Execution – Based on the many thinking-related subjects taught by Mind Lab, children can learn to plan their actions in their day-to-day lives and how to carry out and perform these actions in the best possible way.
